Rita L. Lavigne Obituary

Rita L. (Ducharme) Lavigne, age 81, a longtime resident of Dracut died Friday, August 9, 2024 at Blaire House of Tewksbury. She was the beloved wife of Donald E. Lavigne, to whom she was married for 62 years.

She was born in Lowell on June 21, 1943, and was a daughter of the late Armand and Blanche (Levesque) Ducharme. She received her education in Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell Trade School.

Prior to her retirement, Rita was employed for many years as an assembler in the electronics industry.

She was an avid supporter of the Vietnam veterans and the Lowell General TeamWalk for CancerCare, which she participated in for 13 years.

Rita enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Deborah of Hampton, NH and Richard and Amy Lavigne of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Brittany, Elizabeth, Samantha and Michael; three great grandchildren, Athena, Haven and Ryleigh; a sister, Jean Foley of N. Attleboro; two nieces, Michelle and Rita; and her best friend, Karen Sweeney Nichols and her husband Donald of Pelham, NH. Karen visited Rita everyday at Blaire House until her passing and Rita's family greatly appreciated it.

She was also the sister of the late Lucille Garabedian.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rita's Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Friday, August 16th from 11:00 until 1:00pm followed by her Funeral Service at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford.
