He was predeceased by: his parents, Fannie Mae Jones and Superintendent John Albert Jones, Sr.; his siblings, Lawrence, Nathaniel, John, Jr., Hervin, James Lloyd, Samuel, Rosia and Lettie; and his great grandchild Morgan Renee Ogunyemi.

He is survived by: his wife Ella B. Dotson; his daughter Arnita; his sister Mary Ella Burse-Wright; his sisters-in-law, Sandra and Mary; and his grandchildren, Alyssia Daniel (Eugene), Latoya Reed, Clement Ogunyemi (Maria Jose), Joshua Ogunyemi (Michelle), Olaolu Ogunyemi (Brea) and Daniel Ogunyemi (Ki). He is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and one great-great-great nephew.
