He was predeceased by: his wife Helen M. Newell of Millis, Mass; his daughter Kathleen; and his sons-in-law, James and Vincent. He is survived by: his children, Ann Castle, Jim McDermott (Gayle) of Aguilar, Colo, Maureen (Larry), Karen and Tom (Annmarie); his son-in-law Richard; his grandchildren, Heather, Derek, Lindsay, Eric, Christopher, Meghan, Molly, Alanna, Leif (Kendall) and Thomas (Kaitlin); and his great grandchildren, Flora, Noemie, Samuel and CJ.
