He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur P. Murphy and Mary V. Murphy (McGrath); his granddaughter Katie; and his great grandchildren, Jake, Kristy, Donovan, Emerson, Laine and Bumpa.

He is survived by: his siblings, Arthur, Jake, Mary and Elizabeth Capone (Honey); his wife Helen; his children, Peter F. (Martha) of Pawleys Island, SC and Mary E. Fitzgerald (Bill) of Plymouth; and his grandchildren, Peter, Kaileigh, Billy, Kate Fitzgerald, Sean, Chad, Erin Grannemann, Kelly Morrow, Colleen, Hayley, Thomas, Patrick and Kyle. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
