He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Fred Ward Sr. and Ruth Dietzel McLeish; his wife Donna M. Dietzel (Clancy); his daughters, Kathryn Lee Dietzel (Harry Arroyo) of Dedham and Meghan Marjorie Freitas (Mauro) of Norwood; his siblings, Mark Dietzel of Dedham, Donna Jackson of Millis and Lauren Davenport of Millis; his grandchildren, Maddison, Haley Benatuil, Ethan, Wesley, Cecilia and Aria Freitas; and his in-laws, Cathy, Thomas Milani of Bellingham, Linda Clancy of Milford, Erin Clancy of Dedham, Christine Redmond and Kyle Hadley of Mapleville. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
