He was predeceased by: his parent William Buchanan; and his child Stephen E. Buchanan. He is survived by: his spouse Elaine E. Buchanan (Osgood); his parent Madeline Buchanan (Hickey); his children, Robert L. Buchanan of Boston, Gregory W. Buchanan, Mark J. Buchanan of Quincy and Laura B. Woodward (Mark) of Milton; his sister Alice Synnott of Roslindale; and his grandchildren, Casper, Amber, Jared, Ian and Greer.
