He was predeceased by: his father Otto Hassel. He is survived by: his mother Gertrud Hassel (Scholvin); his close friend Jen; his children, Melanie Healey (Terence) of Essex, Christian Hassel (Risa) of Hamilton, Stephanie Hassel (J. J. Waitt) of Beverly, JoJo Hassel (Mike Fogarty) of Washington, D. C. and Janice Lloyd of Gloucester; his grandchildren, Elsa, Cecelia, Jameson, John O. and Bryce; and his sister Dieta Ruttmann of Germany. He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephew, and extended family.
