Diane Haselgard Obituary
Diane Haselgard, of Danvers, passed into eternal peace on August 14, 2022, after a long illness.
Diane grew up in Gloucester and attended Beverly School for the Deaf, and following that, worked for Heritage Industries for more than 40 years until her retirement due to illness. At Heritage, Diane became a master of her craft, chair caning. She was so talented in her art that clients would ask for her by name!
Diane resided with her parents Carlton and Mary until their passing and then was lovingly cared for by her sister, Janis, before moving to her group home where she flourished. She loved her new home, her caregivers and friends. Diane enjoyed many activities there including tending to her vegetable garden in the spring and summer months wearing her big floppy hat. She was always happy.
Diane was a kind soul who loved everyone, especially animals and babies and took great care helping with her nieces when they were little. She possessed an ever-smiling disposition that was contagious to others. She looked forward to her Sunday shopping trips with her sister, Jan (her favorite was the Christmas Tree Shop), and sweet friend, Robin; and weekends away at family friend, Betty's home, who shared so much hospitality. Diane just loved being one of the girls, crafting, eating out and having fun.
Diane is survived by her beloved sister, Janis (Haselgard) Silva; brother David; dear nieces, Bethany Silva, Breana Silva and Rachel Haselgard; dear nephews, Brandon Silva and Tristan and Taylor Haselgard; great-nieces, Kaislyn Silva and Aliana Bowman, whom she adored, her special Aunt Marion and her many cousins.
Diane was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Carlton Haselgard and her brothers Dana and Jack, whom she will reunite with in Heaven.
Her visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 18, from 5-7 p.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester, MA. Family and friends are cordially invited. Her service will be held in Greely's on Friday, August 19 at 11 a.m. with her burial following in Beechbrook Cemetery in West Gloucester.
