It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Julia Theresa Szakal of Dalton, Massachusetts, who passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph C. Nicholas and Marie C. Bombard Nicholas; her husband Edward Szakal; her granddaughter Lindsey Marie Ferrell; and her brother Ralph Nicholas Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Mary E. Ferrell (Jay) of Dalton, Charles J. Kulas of Dalton and Edwin R. Kulas of Auburn; her daughter-in-law Sally Kulas; her grandchildren, Brian Kulas, Daniel Kulas, Theresa Atwood (Zach), David Ferrell and Joe Kulas; and her great grandchildren, Logan, Sawyer, Renly and Michael.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home (40 Maplewood Ave, Pittsfield, MA 01201). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A committal service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Asheulot Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to "The Lindsey M. Ferrell Memorial Award" and mailed to the funeral home at 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
