He was predeceased by: his parents, James Staunton and Mary Staunton (Walsh); his son James M. Staunton; and his siblings, Richard M. Staunton (Carol), Maureen Crowley (Brian), James T. Staunton (Elaine) of Weymouth, Paul Staunton (Elizabeth) of Scituate and Robert Staunton of Sandwich.
He is survived by: his wife Mary E. (Gallagher); his children, Caitlin Appleton (Paul) of Cohasset, Megan Selinger (Frank) of Cohasset and John Jr. Staunton (Jessica) of Wellesley; and his grandchildren, Emily, James, Liam, John Appleton, Dominic, Mary Linda Staunton, Colin, Claire and Eamon Selinger.
