He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ashline and Gertrude Ashline (McCarthy); his grandson David Patrick Windward; his brothers, Nelson and William; and his daughter-in-law Barbara.
He is survived by: his wife Helen A. (Erkkinen); his children, Susan Linder (Kenneth), John Jr., Joseph (Robin), James (Kim) and Sharon Windward (Marc); his siblings, Patricia, Margaret, Maureen (Dennis) and Robert (Pamela); and his sister-in-law Joanne. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
