Anita Faye Kapper Obituary
Anita Faye Kapper was the first child born to Vann E. Halbrooks and Jeannette G. Halbrooks. A young military family; they were living in Clinton Massachusetts when Anita was born. Three years later, they were blessed with a baby brother for Anita, Kevin Halbrooks. Both Anita's father and brother currently live in Northern Virginia. On the Kapper side of the family, her husband Frank Jr, his father, five sisters and one brother are currently living around the continental United States.
As with many military families, the Halbrooks moved every few years, so Anita was able to experience numerous places and cultures such as Alaska, Germany and even Iran during her early years. Settling down in Maryland and finally Northern Virginia; Anita attended Fairfax High School, graduating in 1973.
She attended George Mason University, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and later a Master's degree in Accounting. Anita then went on to sit for and pass all sections of the Virginia CPA examination the first time, (a pretty rare feat!). After working for a few companies, Anita ended up working for Fairfax County and retired from there in 2017. In the mid 1990's she cofounded a small accounting firm that she ran until her passing.
Anita was a quiet, thoughtful person who preferred to allow others to be in the spotlight. She was always the one helping others from behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly. Her calm demeanor and friendly personality put people around her at ease.
She loved sweets and chocolate and there wasn't an M&M or a piece of fudge she didn't like!
She met her future husband at a party in 1980 and they were married June 12, 1982. They settled down in Fairfax Virginia and built a life together for the next 39 years.
Anita also loved travelling and as a couple, she and Frank explored the world. They had adventures from America to Europe and even as far away as Australia. She loved cruising, visiting museums and churches. Her favorite cities to visit were London and Las Vegas (she always had fun playing the slot machines and seeing the latest shows playing). Everywhere she went, she saw new possibilities to explore... She would research destinations and make lists of all the places she wanted to see when she and Frank went there.
Anita decided to take up Scuba, snow skiing, and competitive black powder shooting to spend more time with Frank. She had a great time learning and trying new things and was looking forward to trying out zip lining and hang gliding on their next planned adventure.
Anita left this world a much better place than it would have been without her. Her last act was to donate a part of herself so that others could live. Her gift ensured three more lives were saved to carry on her legacy of love.
