He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hanifan and Mary Hanifan (Courtney); and his siblings, John, Patrick "Paddy", Michael, James, Edward "Ned" and Bridie Hanifan.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen E. Hanifan (Kavanaugh); his children, Thomas Hanifan (Donna) of East Longmeadow, Mary Bonavita (John) of East Longmeadow, James Hanifan (Renee) of West Springfield and Michael Hanifan (Sophie) of Southwick; and his sister Nora Tuite (England) of London. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Church (395 Chestnut St, Springfield, MA 01104). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
