He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Potvin and Mary Potvin (Lynch); his brothers, Alfred Potvin and Robert Potvin; his uncle Raymond; and his aunt Helene Potvin.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Potvin (Laskowski); his children, Thomas S. Potvin of Chicopee and Sherry L. Griffin (Joseph) of West Roxbury; his granddaughters, Brenna and Caitlin Griffin; his siblings, Paul Potvin of Chicopee, Scott Potvin of Texas and Therese-Marie Potvin; and his sister-in-law Linda Hernke (Frank) of Chicopee. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends.

A reception was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (13 Dale St, Chicopee, MA 01020). A prayer was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 3:30 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Veterans' Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Chicopee, MA 01040 or to Saint Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
