It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sophie T. Piela of Chicopee, Massachusetts, who passed away on February 27, 2023, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph and Mary Kulig (Soja); her husband Chester V. Piela; and her siblings, Helen Kieltyka, Stella Teehan, Frank, Stanley and Walter Kulig.
She is survived by: her children, Susan Saletnik (John), Angela Riva, Dr. Robert Piela (Susan Batlan) and Richard Piela (Barbara); and her siblings, Phyllis Jastrzebski and Joseph Kulig. She is also survived by grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
