He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonardo Pereira and Cecilia Pereira (Carvalho); his wife Maria Pereira (Carreira); and his siblings, Antonio Pereira, Maria Ribeiro and Izaura Palmeira.

He is survived by: his children, Joe Pereira Jr. (Valerie) of Ludlow and Mariana Albert (David Albert) of Westfield; his sister Angelina Carreira of Chicopee; and his grandchildren, Alexandria and David Jr.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including nieces.
