He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ruth Kopelman (Koritsky) and Judge Frank Kopelman; his family Court; his wife Susan Heifetz Kopelman; his children, Dr. Elizabeth Kopelman Borgwardt, Kurt Borgwardt, Dr. Gail Kopelman Serruya, Dr. Mijail Serruya, Dr. Andrew Kopelman and Dr. Mona Jain; his grandchildren, Eva Borgwardt, Jay Borgwardt, Sophie Serruya, Samuel Serruya, Lyla Serruya, Nava Kopelman and Ravi Kopelman; and his brothers, Arie L. Kopelman and Robert Kopelman. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
