He was predeceased by: his parents, João Gomes and Filipa Delfina Gomes; and his wife Zuilda Monteiro Gomes. He is survived by: his children, Manuel Gomes, Maria Alina Connolly, Mario Do Rosario Gomes, Ana Oliveira, Emilia Gomes, Inacio Gomes, Lorena Lopes, Josefina Gomes, Benedita Gomes, Pedro Gomes, Virginia Monteiro Fernandes, Osvaldina Gomes Daly and Filipa Gomes; and his siblings, Pedro Alcantra Gomes and Antonia Ana of Brito. He is also survived by 47 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. 5 sons-in-law, 3 daughters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
