He was predeceased by: his wife Eleanor; and his siblings, John Paine Colby, Sr., Carolyn Colby Brouillette and Janice Colby Slater. He is survived by: his children, Claudia Lancaster of Junction, TX, Deborah Mitchell (Gerald) of Bridgewater, NH, Linda Camp (Stephen) of Groton, MA, John Randall Colby of Gilford, NH, Robert Solon Colby (Becky) of Audubon, NJ, Kathleen Goguen (John) and Marsha Sproul (George) of Jaffrey, NH.. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
