He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis J. Murphy and Josephine G. Murphy; his wives, Arlene Murphy and Carol A. Murphy; his sons, Stephen, William and James; and his siblings, Helen Baudanza, Francis Murphy, Robert Murphy and Majorie Shea.
He is survived by: his children, John Murphy, Jr. (Kerry) of Chelmsford, Matthew Murphy of Evans, GA and Johnna Murphy (Gary Luber) of Roslindale; his grandchildren, Stephen and Amelia Murphy of Chelmsford; his brother Thomas Murphy (Peggy) of Dover, NH; and his sisters-in-law, Joanne Bishop, Marcia Nugent, Barbara Nealon and Patricia Murphy. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in John's honor to The Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro at ndatyngsboro.org.
