He was predeceased by: his parents, Elroy Smith and Ethel Smith (Chase); his son John E. Smith Jr.; and his son-in-law Roger R. Bigold. He is survived by: his wife Mae (Cobuccio); his children, Donna L. Bigold of Dracut, Carolann Smith (George T. Davis) of Dracut, Valerie Wheeler of Tyngsboro, Robert W. Smith of Chelmsford and Robin Gorgone (Johnny) of Dracut; and his siblings, William E. Smith (Alice) of Brockton, Richard E. Smith (Ellen) of Medfield and Marion Ferguson of Dorchester. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, his 7 great grandchildren.
