Bates; his former wife Elizabeth Bates (Deneen); his son Clifford; his brothers, Richard Bates (Sandra) and Paul Bates; and his siblings-in-law, Charles T., John P. Emerson, Mary Bisha (Gordon) and Edward "Ackie" Korszeniewski (Joan).
He is survived by: his friend Jack Bates; his wife Ellen Bates (Emerson); his brother Donald Bates; his children, John Bates (Deidra), Marie Corcoran (Mark), Lorraine Cote (William), Joanne Soulard (James), Linda Korn (Frank) and Jennifer Ehlert (Doug); his stepchildren, James Kolodziey (Robin), Sondra Johnstone (John), Jill Johnston (Dane) of Raleigh, NC and Erin McNally (Sean) of Hudson, FL; his brothers-in-law, George "Packy" Emerson and Danny Emerson; his grandchildren, Heather Mahoney, Lisa Majernik, Thomas Corcoran, Christine Smith, Bill Cote, Renee Watkins, Jillian Cote, John B. Bates IV, Brenna Colomb, Elizabeth Smith, Brian Soulard, Hannah Soulard, Frank Korn, Amy Fleming, Lindsay Korn, Julia, Alison Bates, James, Jake, Sean Eaker, Lindsay Rupe, Sam Johnstone, Briana Provenzano and Hadley Kolodziey; and also Leslie Mitchell. He is also survived by his 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
