He was predeceased by: his wife Eleanor Marie Murphy (Fahey); his parents, James A. Murphy and Gertrude Murphy (Burke); his sister Mary Kenny; and his grandson Benjamin Goldberg.
He is survived by: his children, Karen (Ted Ruder) of Middletown, CT, Laura (Paul Goldberg) of Chelmsford, MA, Barbara Murphy of Tyngsboro, MA, Chelmsford Police Chief, James F. (Kristine Murphy), Edward (Ellen Murphy), Stephen (Susan Murphy) and John (Eva Murphy); and his brother John "Jack" (Joyce Murphy). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
