He was predeceased by: his wife Elisabeth (Shevlin); his parents, George W. Carstens and Elsa Carstens (Wusthoff); and his sister Eleanor Gronberg. He is survived by: his children, Margaret Carstens of Richmond Virginia, Laura Carstens of Pulaski, NY and Matthew Carstens; his grandchildren, Danny Ellett, Jacqueline Carstens and Michael Simmons (Brianna); and his great grandchildren, Cameryn, Mackenzie and Matthew.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home (24 Worthen St, Chelmsford, MA 01824). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the St. Mary Parish (25 North Rd, Chelmsford, MA 01824). A burial was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Pine Ridge Cemetery (130 Billerica Rd, Chelmsford, MA 01824).
