He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Murphy and Ellen Murphy (Deliere); his wife Ollie (Wilson); his son Sean Joseph Murphy; his granddaughter Emma Murphy; and his sister Elaine Dawley.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael P. Murphy (Laura J.) of Peabody and Kent James Murphy of Nantucket; his daughter-in-law Cathy Murphy of Smithfield, RI; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Sean, Thomas, Kathryn, Meghan, Sam and Daniel; and his great grandchildren, Josie Marie and Matilda Noemi.
