He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Rose Jacobs Donahue; his children, Heather McGuire (Sean), Bryan and Taylor Donahue; his grandchildren, Braden, Grady, Harley, Tyler, Riley and Emma; his parents, Josephine R. Donahue and James T. Donahue of Charlestown; and his siblings, Darlene Marckini (Frank), Thomas Donahue, Scott Donahue (Maura) and James T. Donahue Jr.. He was also cherished by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
