He was predeceased by: his parents, Voldemārs Platais and Alma Platais. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Platais (Elliott); his daughter Cynthia Platais Bryan (Marvin) of Carlisle; his grandchildren, Rachel and Ashley of Hudson; his daughter Rachel Platais Medrek (Paul); his grandsons, John (Jack) and Benjamin of Somers, CT; and his cousin Austra Kelers of Kentucky. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

“Maris and I were Boston Technical High classmates and he did the artwork for our 1956 class yearbook which I served as editor. Sorry to learn of his passing. Maris was a gentleman and a tremendous artist. My heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends. Karl R. Bossi Venice, FL”
