He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Shirley M. Houston (Schoener); his children, Jennifer Kane (Timothy) of Mansfield, Thomas Houston (Chad Arsenault) of Silver Spring, MD, Amanda Rapp (Kristoph) of Mansfield and Laura Hakala (Derek) of Mansfield; his grandchildren, Timothy, Kristina, Allison, Matthew Kane, Elizabeth Arsenault-Houston, Sean, Emma, Ryan Rapp, Olivia, Violet and Theodore Hakala; and his parents, Thomas E. Houston and Dora E. Houston (King).

Donations in his memory may be made to the Mansfield AnimalShelter, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, or the Mass General Corrigan MinehanHeart Center.
