He was predeceased by: his spouse Marion F. Connell (Bedirian); and his brother John Connell. He is survived by: his children, Michael Connell (Phyllis) of Ayer, William J. Connell Jr. (Brenda) of Billerica and Marijane Connell of Cambridge; and his grandchildren, Michael (Allyson), Christopher, Zachary, William III, Brendan and Bonnie Connell. He is also survived by other loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in William's name are to be made to St. Jude Hospital Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
