He was predeceased by: his parents, Muriel Sholder and Samuel Sholder; and his brother Robert N. Sholder. He is survived by: his children, Adam (Vanessa), Rachel, Katie and Laura; his nephews, Gabriel (Alyssa) and Rafael; and his cousins, Susan, Jim, Bonnie, Gregory and Madeleine.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.
