She was predeceased by: her parents, Joao Lopes Martins and Isabel Martins (DaGraca); and her son Joao Manuel Fontes. She is survived by: her husband Manuel Antonio Fontes; her children, Luis Fontes, Isabel Fontes and Jose Manuel Fontes; her stepchildren, Joao Paulo Fontes, Julia Pires and Maria Lopes; and her sisters, Madalena DeSena, Ana Ribeiro and Maria Martins. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren.
