He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Shonio and Evelyn Shonio (Hill); his former wife Betty Bolio; his siblings, Elwyn Shonio and Patricia Benway; and his stepsons, Arnold and David Bolio.
He is survived by: his close friend Marcy Frink. He is also survived by four grandchildren; many great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
