He is survived by: his wife Alda Mendes Gomes Soares of Fall River; his children, Anilton Vaz of Cabo Verde, Gilson Vaz of Cabo Verde and Elizabeth Tavares of Fall River; and his siblings, Silvestre Soares of Rhode Island, Joao Soares of Cabo Verde, Domingos Soares of Cabo Verde, Marcelina Soares of Portugal and Reita Soares of Portugal. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren.
