He was predeceased by: his parent Edgar G.; and his child Stephen Gates. He is survived by: his parent Bernice Gates (Stearns); his son Gregory Gates; and his stepdaughters, Debra Chipman, Laurie Dewhurst and Janice Flynn. He is also survived by many grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
