He was predeceased by: his parents, Judge Maurice McWalter and Jean McWalter (Stirling); his son Terrence McWalter; and his siblings, Meg McWalter Finan, Anne "Nancy" Forbes, Stephen McWalter and Thomas McWalter.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia McWalter; his daughter Stacy Jean McWalter (Mike Clark) of Marlborough; his pets, Bacon and Oliver; and his sister Molly McWalter Donohoe of Haverhill.
