He was predeceased by: his parents, Angus J. MacDonnell and Jeannette MacDonnell (Dwyer). He is survived by: his wife Sylvia MacDonnell (Boisvert); his sons, Frederick MacDonnell (Liz) of Texas and Michael MacDonnell; his siblings, Charlie Ash of Walpole, Jean Costello, Sr. (Mary), S. F., Sr. (Paula), S. F. and Marjorie Brennan; his grandchildren, Conner, Hunter, Chase, Hayse, Grant, Molly, Jack, Kevin and Maggie; his great grandchild Amberlynn; his aunt Jean; and his uncle Fred (Mac). He is also survived by relatives, friends and his kids.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
