He was predeceased by: his wife Annie M. Mullen (McDonagh); his parents, Patrick Mullen and Annie Mullen (Faherty); and his siblings, Rev. Johnny Mullen, Joe Mullen, Maureen (Michael Flaherty) and Bernard Mullen.
He is survived by: his children, Angela (Kieran Kelly) of Braintree, Aine (Martin McDonagh) of Canton and Caroline Mullen of Weymouth; his grandchildren, Ciara Kelly, Claire Kelly, Annie Kelly, Nora Kelly, Michael Kelly, Roisin McDonagh and Fiona McDonagh; and his siblings, Patrick Mullen (late Anna Mullen) of Florida, Myles Mullen (Teresa Mullen) of Hanover, Rev. Michael Mullen of Florida and Eileen McDonagh (Paraic McDonagh) of Milton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
