She was predeceased by: her parent Edna French. She is survived by: her son Mel Cheeks; her daughter-in-law Yvette Cheeks; her children, Elijah Cheeks, Ayesha Thomas, Tamieka Thomas, Robert Thomas, Nevaeh DeJesus and Xavier Thomas; and her siblings, Catherine Taylor, Elizabeth Twitty and Samuel Gains. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
