Wilbur L. Durocher Jr. Obituary
Wilbur (Bill) L Durocher, Jr, a long-time resident of Wheelers Point, Gloucester, passed away peacefully in Beverly Hospital October 23, 2022. He joins his beloved wife, June Ramsdell Durocher, who died in September of 2010.
Born in 1923 in Lynn, Bill served with the Army in the Italian campaign during WWII. After returning home, Bill started a successful 40-year career in banking at Marblehead Bank.
After retirement, Bill and his wife enjoyed many happy years in their home on the Annisquam River. They also enjoyed traveling with friends by riverboat and camper/caravan.
In his later years, Bill enjoyed socializing closer to home - sitting in his front yard or on his back porch, talking with anyone and everyone who wandered by; running errands with friends; enjoying the regular company of his Monday and Friday morning breakfast groups, his regular Wednesday evening visits with a neighbor, and his Thursday afternoon mens' club.
Bill was a kind and gracious man, with a smile and a greeting for everyone. He kept up with the neighbors, often sharing tales of their travels, their children, and their grandchildren. His friends and neighbors loved Bill, and he loved them in return. His passing is a loss to many.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
