Lawrence V. Gilardi Obituary
Lawrence V. "Larry" Gilardi, age 71, husband of Linda (Jordan) Gilardi passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Beverly Hospital.
Larry was born in Gloucester on February 4, 1952, to the late Anthony and Mary Ann (Lochirco) Gilardi.
In 1998 he married Linda Jordan Gilardi and spent the next 26 years together. Larry graduated from Gloucester High School class of 1971. After graduation he went on to be a manufacturing machinist. In 1975, he worked at Herb Wood Machine Co. in Peabody, MA. This was the Panasonic VHS era, technology was advancing. Larry made the proto-type for VHS Cassettes which was in engineering for Polaroid JVC and was the end to Betamax. In 1989 he opened his own machine shop Ultra Quality Technology at the United Shoe in Beverly, MA. where he spent the next 23 years manufacturing and engineering products. He worked side by side with this wife Linda teaching her the trade. After his shop closed he spent his last years before retiring at CNC Machinist in Newburyport.
In his younger years he was nicknamed "Larry the Bear" and he would hang out with his childhood friends at Moses Store at the end of his Cleveland Street childhood home. Larry enjoyed music and attended every concert he could get to at the Boston Garden and even attended Woodstock.
He enjoyed life with his wife Linda. They loved going on vacation. They would do little weekend getaway adventures to their timeshare in New Hampshire. Some of their favorite travel spots were New Hampshire and Aruba. They also loved going out to lunch, especially at the Cheesecake Factory.
He is survived by his wife Linda of 26 years, brother Leonard J. Gilardi and wife Dallas of Alabama, sister Anne Gilardi Pappas & Fiancée Peter Horne of Gloucester, brother in-law Russell Jordan of Florida; Nieces and Nephews, Jennifer Velonis and her children Katelyn Gilardi and Hunter Velonis of South Carolina, Leonard Gilardi Jr., Anthony Gilardi and Fiancée Lisa McCarthy and their daughter Emily Gilardi, Paul Gilardi and his companion Joan Hawes and their daughter Mary Gilardi, Stacey Capone and her husband Frank and their children Aliyah and Anthony Capone, Tiffany Young and her husband Jody and son Nicholas Whitten and many cousins. Larry was predeceased by his parents Anthony & Mary Ann Gilardi and Brother Anthony "Tony" Gilardi.
His graveside service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 165 Eastern Avenue, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
