Judith L. Cote Obituary
Judith L. (Sears) Coté, 80, of Beverly, formerly of Gloucester, wife of Daniel K. Coté, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Judith was born in Gloucester, MA on May 28, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Loren and Matilda (Xavier) Sears. Judy grew up in Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School with the Class of 1960. After living in Spain for a few years, Judy discovered her passion for lingual arts. After managing her family's business at the Green Tavern, she turned to her true passion as a bilingual education teacher at Fuller School.
Her time in the school system lead her to her true calling as Community Director for the Mass Migrant Education Program for the Gloucester Community. In over 15 years in this role, Judy thrived as the liason for the children of families in the fishing and agricultural industries. Judy cherished her students as much as the continued love and respect she received back over the years. She is survived by her children, Heidi Herdman of Beverly, Shelley Frontiero and her husband Paul of Gloucester, and Stephen Cote and his wife Angela of Wenham.
Cousin William "Billy" Adams. Her grandchildren, Jeffrey Lander, Heather and Holly Herdman, Ava and Alec Coté. Her great grandchildren, Sydney and Derek Lander. She was predeceased by her parents Loren and Matilda Sears, Aunt Claire Adams, Cousin James Wilson, and son-in-law Dale Herdman. Special thanks to Dr. James Maguire, Kelly Sutherland, Dr. William Hare, the staff at Ledgewood Nursing Home, and the staff at the Kaplan House for their love and care. To the numerous friends Judy had met over the years, knowing her for even a few minutes meant you had a lifelong friend.
Thank you Susan Chalifour, Randy & John Pata, and Alda Rocha who held a special place in her heart. Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester on Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 8:15-9:15am. Family and friends are cordially invited. Her mass will be celebrated at 10am in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, 142 Prospect St. Gloucester. Her burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in.
