He was predeceased by: his mother Edith Burns (Craig); and his former wife Patricia Burns. He is survived by: his father John T. Burns; his wife Sandra L. Burns (Tarr); his daughters, Maryn McNamara (Tom) of Springfield, MA and Emily Burns of Manchester, NH; his stepsons, Christopher Belkas of Salem and Nicholas Belkas (Julia) of Methuen, MA.; his grandchildren, Avery and John McNamara; his siblings, Thomas Burns (Lynne) of Greenwich, RI, Richard Burns (Janel) of Barnstead, NH and Judith Burns of Eddystone, PA; his siblings-in-law, Peter and Kim Barry of Rowley, MA; and his parents-in-law, Russell and Patricia Tarr of Beverly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Campbell Funeral Home (525 Cabot St, Beverly, MA 01915). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of John Burns to the Termeer Center for Pancreatic Cancer/Andreas Varkaris.
