He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Souza (Costa); and his children, Jillian (Joshua Fikkert) of Bainbridge, PA, Jesse of Berkley, MA and Justin (Danielle Travers) of East Taunton, MA..

“Very saddened to learn of Johnny's passing & long struggles w Alzheimer's. I can see him smiling, sitting back, enjoying some silliness with his gentle humor, that relaxed easy laugh, so much like his father. These times make it even harder than it already is to be able to be with others, to share some of your hurt and dislocation, w/ coronavirus & attendance constrictions. (If it's ever useful, Ms. Mary Jane, I would so gladly add the song "Amazing Grace" to any memorial occasion.)”
