Neal Nathanson Obituary
We are sad to announce that on August 11, 2022, at the age of 94, Neal Nathanson (Belmont, Massachusetts) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He is survived by: his wife Valerie Epps; his brother Larry Nathanson; his children, Katherine (Kate), John and Daniel; and his children-in-law, E. Andrew Ochroch, Alison Brown and Jennifer Nathanson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Early in his career, Dr. Nathanson spent two years as an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer at the Centers for Disease Control, where he headed the Polio Surveillance Unit; while there, he made important contributions to increasing the safety of early poliovirus vaccines.
