He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Hawkins (Sims); his close friend Helen DeFosse; his parents, William Hawkins and Gladys Hawkins (Grenier); his son Jeffrey T. Hawkins; and his brother Richard Hawkins.
He is survived by: his children, James P. Hawkins, Kenneth W. Hawkins (Janine Vannini) of Coventry and Lori L. Danna (Keith) of Chaplin, CT; and his siblings, Raymond Hawkins, Thomas Hawkins and Barbara Shields. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
