He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Place and Margaret Place (Howe); and his children, James Place and Laurel Place. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Place (Silowan); and his children, David, Douglas Place, Beverly Morrison and Diana Reynolds. He is also survived by his siblings, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
