With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gaye Carpenter (Bedford, Massachusetts), who passed away on July 25, 2018 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her siblings, Philip Ulmer and Mary Winslow. She is survived by: her parents, Conrad Ulmer and Jean Ulmer; and her husband Dan Smythe, Jr.. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Peter and Eileen, Andy and Shelley, Matt and Monica, Dan III and Shana, Hebe and Keith Doneski, and by many grandchildren and a great grandson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to First Parish in Bedford, 75 Great Road, Bedford, MA 01730.

“She did not deserve to die the way she did. Such a wonderful mother and human being. She should have been with people who could have properly cared for her. It was terrible the conditions she was left in. I am left with so much guilt. I should have brought her to my house. My wife and I tried to make her last few weeks as comfortable as possible. I’m so sorry mom. We love and miss you.”
