He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gallagher and Annabelle Gallagher (McCready); and his siblings, John Gallagher, Patrick "Buddy" Gallagher and Katherine Morman (Gallagher).

He is survived by: his wife Terry; his son Thomas M. Gallagher (Annette) of Chelmsford; his grandchildren, Cassandra, Tia, Nicholas, Michelle and Jimmy; his son Matthew J. Gallagher (Karen) of Chelmsford; his granddaughter Haley; his son Brendan P. Gallagher (Katie) of Ayer; and his grandchildren, Cullen and Grace. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
