He was predeceased by: his brother John O. Mattila; and his brother-in-law Paul Craig. He is survived by: his sibling James'; his parent Janice E. Mattila (Lovell) of Townsend; his siblings, Valerie E. Craig of Kingston, NY, Sally Pardo (Jason) of Holiday, FL and Eric Mattila of Greenville, NH; his nephews, Alan, Nathan Mattila, Daniel and Alexander Craig; and his great-nephew Evan Craig.
