He was predeceased by: his wife Mildred E. Gilbert (McCarthy); his brother David L. Gilbert; and his parents, Daniel W. Gilbert and May Gilbert (Ivatts). He is survived by: his children, Robin Gilbert-Newcomb of Ware and Rick Gilbert of Auburn; his grandsons, Christopher Newcomb of Oxford, Eric Newcomb of Auburn and Kevin Newcomb of North Brookfield; his great grandchild James Newcomb of Auburn; and his siblings, Daniel Gilbert, Ronald "Ronny" Gilbert, Diann Dempsey and Sandra Grudinsky.
